Paris: the perfect end to a trip to Italy
The Eiffel Tower was completed in 1889 and was supposed to be dismantled after 20 years. I am glad wiser heads prevailed.
Hello, Friend ~ I’m Scott and welcome to your 5-Minute Vacation for Dec. 5th. I share these snippets of our travels in the hopes that my photos and stories will allow you to go on a vicarious vacation and “get away from it all,” if only for a moment. I appreciate you inviting me into your inbox today.

Earlier this summer, some friends told us they would be visiting Paris soon and hoped we could meet up. Joining them in Paris at the end of our Italy trip worked for both our itineraries, so of course we said yes.
After arriving in Paris and finding our friends, we headed straight to a café for lunch. And wine, of course.
After 14 days in Italy, we could only stay two nights in Paris ~ because work ~ so we made the most of it. We did something we’ve never done on any of our previous visits: we went on a dinner cruise on the Seine.
And I don’t know why we waited so long. The meal was delicious, the scenery was wonderful and the captain made sure to pass the Eiffel Tower at exactly the right time: just in time to see the Tower sparkle.
If you’ve never had the pleasure, the Eiffel Tower sparkles. Sparkles! We’ve seen it several times and it’s cool every. single. time. I don’t make videos so I found one on YouTube to share here.
Delicious food, beautiful scenery and the Eiffel Tower sparkling. The only way to make a dinner cruise better is to share it with dear friends. I recommend it.
A two-night visit translates into only one full day. Fortunately, that one day was sunny and warm with just a hint of a breeze. We took full advantage of this perfect weather:
We found charming cafés for all our meals, beginning with breakfast…
…continuing with crepes for lunch…
…and finishing with Korean dolsot for dinner. Our friends introduced us to this dish when we lived in Louisville. We stumbled across a Korean restaurant on our way to the Luxembourg Garden and knew it would be the perfect dinner to celebrate our time together.
In-between meals, we walked to Notre Dame to see how the reconstruction is progressing...
…and soaked up the afternoon sun in the Luxembourg Garden.
Visiting Paris is always a treat. And it’s even better with friends.

Friend, we’ve come to the end of this trip. I hope these postcards have helped you vacation vicariously and maybe ~ perhaps? ~ inspired you to think about your own trip to Italy and/or Paris.
Next time (returning to the regular every-other-week schedule), I’ll share a few photos from Christmas markets we’ve visited. I like to browse through those old photos because they help me get into the holiday spirit. I hope they do the same for you, too.
Until then ~
Au revoir!
PS ~ Do you know someone who might also enjoy a 5-Minute Vacation? If so, I’d be grateful if you shared this with them. The links below will make that easy.
